Nicole Kidman’s Father Unexpectedly Passed Away

Nicole Kidman is in mourning after her father died on Friday.

Dr. Anthony Kidman was pronounced dead in hospital after suffering a fall while visiting Nicole’s sister Antonia in Singapore. He was thought to be in his 80s.

The actress’ publicist tells Daily Mail Australia that the “family is in shock and is grieving… I think that some time and privacy is needed to deal with this shock and tragedy.”

Dr. Kidman was a clinical psychologist at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia and a director of health psychology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He was honoured with an Order of Australia in 2005 for his work in the field.

His UTS colleague Professor Attila Brungs says, “It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr Tony Kidman’s sudden passing. During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly – as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner… Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”

Local police tell Reuters news agency they are investigating an unnatural death.
