Whitney Houston Live Album Set for Release

Whitney Houston is set to return to the charts from beyond the grave with the release of her first-ever live album.

The tragic superstar’s longtime producer and mentor, Clive Davis, has compiled audio and video footage from the singer’s most memorable gigs for Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances, which will be available as a CD and DVD package in November.

Davis reveals he felt compelled to remind the world how talented Houston was after her personal struggles with addiction overshadowed her career achievements in her final years.

He explains, “Stemming from the ’80s or ’90s, she, without question, was the greatest vocalist in the world. I want history to know that…

“Whitney, in the last two or three years of her life, was not in the best form, so memories are short. This CD/DVD will establish that there was no one like her. It’s a phenomenal album.”

Davis teamed up with the late icon’s mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, and her manager and sister-in-law, Patricia Houston, to compile the album, but watching over hours and hours of old footage of his protegee was a tough task.

He says, “It was bittersweet. On the one hand, I, who was there, still marvel at these incredible live performances. This is her first live album… It was a marvel that she was as powerful and incredible as she was, but bittersweet because she died too young.”

Houston died in 2012, aged 48.
