Dr. Dre Crowned Hip Hop Cash King of 2014 by ‘Forbes’

Producer/rapper Dr. Dre has been crowned the Hip Hop Cash King of 2014.

The hitmaker earned a whopping $620 million thanks largely to Apple’s Beats By Dre buy-out, and that figure is by far the greatest haul for any musician in the past year, according to editors at Forbes.com.

The substantial earnings were more than the 24 other artists on the list combined as well as the highest annual total of any entertainer ever evaluated by Forbes, which is impressive to say the least.

Rap moguls Jay Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs tied for second place with $60 million each, with the total being Jay’s highest since 2010, while Drake, whose Nike endorsement and arena tour beefed up his yearly earnings, took fourth place with $33 million.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis round out the top five at five.

According to Forbes, the list is tallied using a combination of income from “touring, record sales, publishing, merchandise sales, endorsements and other ventures. Management, agent and attorney fees are not deducted.”
