IFC Picks Up ‘The Birthday Boys’ Sketch Show

IFC has announced that it has ordered a sketch comedy show from sketch comedy group The Birthday Boys. Ben Stiller (Zoolander) and Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show with Bob and David; he’s also Saul on Breaking Bad) are both onboard as executive producers.

The Birthday Boys is comprised of seven writer-performers (Jefferson Dutton, David Ferguson, Mike Hanford, Tim Kalpakis, Matt Kowalick, Mike Mitchell, and Chris VanArtsdalen) who have been putting on a monthly sketch show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles since 2008 in addition to releasing popular online videos.

The group’s members have also worked for Funny or Die and IFC’s Comedy Bang Bang as well as numerous other appearances. IFC has ordered 10 half-hour episodes of The Birthday Boys, which premieres Friday, October 18 at 10:30 EST.
