Taste of Atlanta 2014 Preview: Heaven for Foodies

FanBolt recently had the chance to partake in a blogger tweet up to preview 4 of the more than 90 restaurants that will be featured in Taste of Atlanta 2014! I’ve made it no secret just how big of a foodie I am, so every year when this event comes around – I go crazy on social media. You’ll see some of the tasty dishes and cocktails we got to try throughout the evening scattered throughout this post. I hope they’ll get you all as excited for October 24 – 26 as they do me!

The Original El Taco

We started off the tweet up at The Original El Taco in Highlands. I had never been here before despite its popularity, so sadly I was unaware of their fried chicken taco that I could have been eating for years and just now discovered. This is hands down my favorite taco in the city.

We snacked on chips and dip (Their salsa bar is amazing!) and had Bohemia Beer along with their Classic Margarita. I didn’t want to leave – but our next location was one I couldn’t turn down – Rosebud.

Rosebud

I’ve only eaten at Rosebud for brunch (the best cheese grits in Atlanta), so I was super excited to see what they had in store for us for a dinner sampling. To my delight, it also involved the grits I so love. Wild Georgia shrimp & grits – local spotted trotter andouille sausage, sweet onion, san marzano tomatoes & local grits. We also got to sample a blueberry, peach and vanilla infused Moscow Mule… yum.

The Albert

We had deviled eggs paired with a delicious white wine, followed by a open-face brisket sandwich on a pimento cheese biscuit paired with a pinot noir and lastly we enjoyed the most incredible fudge brownie topped with bourbon ice cream paired with a desert port. This was actually my favorite stop on the trip.

4th & Swift

We tried a lot here – and I mean a lot. Maple roasted Georgia carrots, veal and ricotta meatballs, white chanterelle mushroom risotto, brussel sprouts and more. To drink, I tried the Tobacco Road (Rittenhouse Rye, Lapsang Souchong, China-China Amer, Carpano Antica, RWC Savannah Verdelho Madeira, Absinthe, Aromatic Bitters) – they had me at rye. Another girl in our party tried the rum-based Fire on the Mountain… and let’s just say everyone should definitely order that!
