‘Bridesmaids’ Director Paul Feig Tapped for Women-Led ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has been confirmed as the director of the upcoming Ghostbusters film, which will feature an all-female cast.

Feig is reteaming with The Heat screenwriter Katie Dippold for the highly-anticipated reboot, and he took to Twitter.com on Wednesday to make the news official.

He wrote, “It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.”

Ivan Reitman, who directed the 1984 spook-chasing film and the 1989 sequel, was originally slated to direct the new instalment, but he has opted to take a producer’s role instead.

The film is expected to start shooting early next year, with original Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd slated to return. Co-stars Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson have yet to sign on.
