‘The Walking Dead’ Companion May Be Prequel

The upcoming companion series for AMC’s The Walking Dead could actually be a prequel to the main show. AMC has said before that it will give a “new, previously unseen” take on the story. The prequel would focus on the early days of the epidemic and the effort to stop it.

Last month, series creator Robert Kirkman (who is working on the series with executive producers Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert) stated that the new show is set in a “different location” and feature “completely different people.” He added, “It definitely won’t be set in Georgia… It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spin-off has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out.”

The series is in the very early stages of development and could always change, even if a prequel is the current plan. It will arrive in 2015.
