Christina Aguilera Will Return to ‘The Voice’ for Season Eight

Christina Aguilera is set to return to The Voice as a judge after giving birth to her daughter.

The singer decided to take a second hiatus from the show last year and extended her break after learning she was pregnant with fiance Matthew Rutler’s child earlier this year. She welcomed Summer Rain Rutler in August, and now she’s planning to return to her spinning chair, which has been filled by fellow pop moms Shakira and Gwen Stefani for the past two seasons.

Aguilera will join Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for season eight of the hit show.

Announcing the news, Paul Telegdy, the president of alternative and late night programming at NBC Entertainment, says, “We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can’t wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition.

“These four talented artists are at the top of their game as musicians and as coaches. The mentoring is sure to be intense and the stakes will be high.”

Season eight will air next Spring.
