NBC Remaking ‘The IT Crowd’

Chris O’Dowd’s cult British sitcom The IT Crowd is to be remade for US television.

The Irish actor shot to fame alongside Richard Ayoade in the comedy about a pair of geeky computer technicians, which ran for four seasons and concluded with a 2013 special.

It has now emerged the show is to be revived by NBC and remade for American audiences with a new cast.

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is behind the remake.

A previous attempt to recreate the show in the U.S. failed to get past the pilot stage. It featured British actor Ayoade reprising his role as Maurice Moss opposite American castmembers Joel McHale and Jessica St. Clair.

The news comes a day after it was announced Moone Boy, another of O’Dowd’s hit British shows, is to be adapted for the U.S. TV audience.
