Adam Davidson (Fringe) is set to direct the pilot for the upcoming spin-off series to The Walking Dead.

Davidson won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for his 1991 short, The Lunch Date.

The pilot for the new show is set to begin production later this year. Few other details are available for the upcoming production. The new series will reportedly take place in the same universe as The Walking Dead TV series, but it will be set in an alternate location and possibly a different point in time.

The Walking Dead co-creator Dave Erickson is serving as the showrunner. Original comic creator Robert Kirkman is executive producing the show with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert.

Do you plan on watching the TWD spin-off? What are your hopes for the series?
