Benedict Cumberbatch Is Engaged!

British actor Benedict Cumberbatch is engaged to marry theater director/actress Sophie Hunter.

The Sherlock star was first rumored to be dating the Brit in September after they were pictured watching the French Open tennis tournament together in June.

According to reports at the time, the 38-year-old actor first met Hunter when they worked on 2009 film Burlesque Fairytales.

Their engagement was officially announced in Britain’s The Times newspaper on Wednesday.

The announcement reads:

“Mr BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London.”
