Eminem Under Fire for Targeting Lana Del Rey in ‘Shady CXVPHER’
Eminem has taken aim at singer Lana del Rey in a new freestyle, suggesting he would “punch her in the face twice”.
The hip-hop star has never been one to censor his lyrics, and in a new video released on Monday to promote his upcoming Shady XV compilation, he has courted controversy once again with lines referring to domestic violence.
In the a cappella freestyle rap, he spits, “But I may fight for gay rights, especially if the d**e is more of a knockout than Janay Rice/Play nice? B**ch I’ll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice, like Ray Rice in broad daylight in the plain sight of the elevator surveillance/’Til her head is banging on the railing, then celebrate with the Ravens.”
Eminem references a February incident, in which Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice was caught on camera allegedly assaulting his partner Janay in an elevator. His actions led to a ban from playing in the National Football League.
While Del Rey has yet to respond to the new lyrics, she previously stated in a 2012 interview that she’s a huge fan of the MC, saying, “I f**ing love Eminem. He’s the master of lyrics.”
