Jennifer Lawrence has no interest in engaging with fans on social media because she feels so “scorned” by Internet critics.

The Hunger Games star has long refused to join the throng of celebrities sharing every aspects of their lives with devotees on sites like Twitter and Instagram, and she admits micro-blogging is a cultural phenomenon she just can’t quite get to grips with.

During an interview on Britain’s BBC Radio 1 on Tuesday, she said, “I will never get Twitter. I’m not very good on phone or technology. I cannot really keep up with emails so the idea of Twitter is so unthinkable to me.

“I don’t really understand what it is. It’s like this weird enigma that people talk about.”
Lawrence went on to admit her anti-blogging stance is largely due to the nasty comments she has previously encountered online – although she stopped short of directly commenting on her recent nude photo scandal.

She explained, “I had that one (answer) locked and loaded. I really like, laser-focused (on that answer)… It’s because the Internet has scorned me so much that I feel like it’s that girl in high school that I’m like, ‘Oh, you want to talk about her? Yeah I’ll do that!’ Take my hoops off, I’m ready to go (fight).”

Lawrence hit headlines in late August, when she was among dozens of famous women targeted by hackers who accessed cloud storage accounts and stole hundreds of private, intimate pictures, which were later published online.

The Oscar winner recently spoke out about the “disgusting” incident for the first time in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, dubbing it a “sex crime” and “sexual violation”.
