Netflix Welcomes Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Eyeing Mike Colter for Luke Cage

Krysten Ritter as landed the role of Marvel superheroine Jessica Jones in a new TV drama series and Netflix is close to having Mike Colter sign on as Luke Cage.

The former Breaking Bad star will play the titular comic book detective character, who assists other superheroes. Colter isn’t official yet, but according to Deadline.com Krysten’s landing the role came down to she and Teresa Palmer doing chemistry reads with Colter “believed to be the choice for male lead Luke Cage.”

Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are two of four Marvel characters who will each receive their own series on Netflix, including Iron Fist and Daredevil.

Daredevil will be Marvel’s first original series on Netflix and stars Charlie Cox as the blind superhero.

Luke and Jessica’s series’ will be available on the instant streaming service in 2015.
