‘The Walking Dead’ Spinoff Finds Female Lead in Kim Dickens

The Walking Dead companion series has cast its female lead, another member of the core group of survivors in AMC’s upcoming spinoff.

According to Deadline, Dickens (whom you may recognize from Gone Girl) is set to play female lead Nancy Tomkins opposite Cliff Curtis’s Sean Cabrera in the pilot. Tomkins is a guidance counselor who is in a relationship with Curtis and is also mother to Nick and Ashley. Nick, played by Frank Dillane, has a drug abuse past and Alycia Debnam Carey will play ambitious Ashley. Sean Cabrera is a teacher and good man who shares a son with his ex-wife, Andrea. No word on Andrea or the casting of their son.

The companion series is also rumored to be a prequel by The Hollywood Reporter as well, with sources telling the site that the series “also known as Cobalt, takes place in Los Angeles at the dawn of the zombie apocalypse.”
