Former ‘Saved by the Bell’ Star Dustin Diamond to Stand Trial for Stabbing Incident
Dustin Diamond is heading to trial after he was involved in a stabbing in Wisconsin on Christmas Day.
The former Saved by the Bell star, 37, was arrested last month amid allegations he used a switchblade to injure a fellow patron during an altercation at the Grand Avenue Saloon in Port Washington.
According to the criminal complaint, Diamond told police the stabbing was an accident, which occurred as he stepped in to defend his fiancee, Amanda Schutz, during a fight with a woman and two other men.
He was charged with felony reckless endangerment and misdemeanours of disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon, and released on $10,000 bail last week. He returned to Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Monday, when Judge Paul Malloy determined there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial.
Diamond faces up to 10 years behind bars if found guilty of the felony charge.
He is due back in court for a plea hearing on January 22.
His attorney, Thomas Alberti, previously revealed the actor was confident he would be cleared of any wrongdoing as he had been acting in self-defense.
