Stephen Fry Confirms Marriage Rumors

British funnyman Stephen Fry has thanked fans for their well-wishes after confirming he is set to marry his boyfriend this year, after reportedly giving notice of an upcoming wedding at a registry office in Norfolk, England.

The 57-year-old funnyman and his 27-year-old partner Elliott Spencer made a formal application to marry at a registry office in Norfolk, England, according to British newspaper The Sun.

Their notice was submitted on December 23 and gives the couple a year to tie the knot.

Fry confirmed the news on Twitter on today, writing, “Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I’m very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!… Thank you all SO much for your kind congratulations. Deeply touched… Your adorable tweets are bringing me close to sobbing. Off for a walk and a blast of Jorge Bolet (pianist)…”
