Sam Smith on Celebrity Parties: ‘People Could Be a Little Judgemental at Times’

Sam Smith tends to avoid showbiz parties because he finds some celebrities can be too “judgemental”.

The “Stay With Me” hitmaker is gearing up for Sunday’s Grammy Awards where he is nominated in six categories, and there are many star-studded parties in the days leading up to the ceremony.

However, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Smith admits he has held back on attending social events with other stars.

He says, “I don’t go to celebrity parties a lot. I don’t really enjoy them, because I enjoy really going for it at parties. And sometimes at celebrity parties, there’s no dancing on tables, because people could be a little judgemental at times. So I tend not to go… I end up in hotel rooms doing crazy things… Unless it’s Taylor Swift’s birthday party, then it’s amazing.”

Smith was one of Swift’s celebrity guests at her 25th birthday bash in December along with Beyonce, Jay Z and Justin Timberlake.
