‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Star Dakota Johnson Asked for Closed Set After Tip from Mom Melanie Griffith

Dakota Johnson made sure producers banned everyone except essential crew members while filming racy scenes for Fifty Shades of Grey after her mother Melanie Griffith told her she had a right to demand a closed set.

Johnson stars as a submissive student who is seduced by a bondage-loving businessman in the upcoming movie, and she admits she was wary of shooting sado-masochistic acts with co-star Jamie Dornan.

However, her actress mother Griffith imparted her wisdom about the unwritten rules of filming sex scenes, and Johnson was delighted when director Sam Taylor-Johnson agreed to the request.

She tells Glamour magazine, “It was a very closed set – my mom told me that it’s my right to ask for that during intimate scenes, so it seemed like we were in the little world together.”
