Baz Luhrmann’s newest project The Get Down is headed to Netflix.

The Australian director is bringing his talents to the small screen by creating the musical drama which is set in New York City in the 1970s. The series will focus on a group of cunning teenagers from the South Bronx.

Luhrmann, who has been working on the concept for the past 10 years, says in a statement, “I’ve been obsessed with the idea of how a city in its lowest moment, forgotten and half destroyed, could give birth to such creativity and originality in music, art and culture.”

Luhrmann will direct three of the 13 episodes, and serve as an executive producer. The show will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
