Taylor Swift Continues to Dominate Album Charts

Taylor Swift has scored 11 weeks at the top of the album charts with her 2014 release 1989.

Swift’s latest has become one of the four Billboard 200 chart-toppers to land more than 10 weeks at number one since the beginning of the new century – she also took Fearless to the top and stayed there for 11 weeks.

Only Adele and the Frozen soundtrack have also managed the feat, with Adele spending 24 weeks on top with 21 in 2011 and 2012.

The latest Now That’s What I Call Music compilation, Now 53, debuts at two on the new chart, while Ed Sheeran’s X slides a spot to three and Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour and Fifth Harmony’s new release, Reflection, round out the new top five.

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson extend their stranglehold on the top of the singles chart as “Uptown Funk” lands a sixth week at number one, and Sir Paul McCartney is back in the top 10 with his Kanye West and Rihanna collaboration, “FourFiveSeconds.” The former Beatles star last hit the top 10 with the theme from “Spies Like Us” in 1986.

His new hit jumps up to number six on the new countdown.
