‘Insurgent’ Star Shailene Woodley Talks Filming Injuries

Shailene Woodley was relieved to walk away from the set of her new action sequel Insurgent with just “bumps and bruises” after initially fearing she had broken her nose during an intense fight scene.

The actress plays Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior, the main protagonist in the sci-fi action adventure series, based on author Veronica Roth’s Divergent book trilogy, and although she escaped the set without any serious injuries, she admits she did come close.

Woodley says, “The first movie we got banged up a lot, but this movie… there wasn’t anything too intense. Little bumps and bruises but… not too bad.”

“(My nose) was a little crunchy, a little ‘crunch, crunch’! We thought it was broken but it wasn’t, so it was all good. It didn’t bleed…

“When you crunch your nose your eyes water immediately… My eyes started watering so I was like, ‘Oh God, oh no, it’s broken’ and it was during a fight scene and I hit my nose on a guy’s head but… it was fine.”
