‘Insurgent’ Star Shailene Woodley Shares Bone Broth Recipe with Fans

Shailene Woodley has shared her bone broth recipe with fans online after discussing the health benefits of her favorite breakfast drink during a TV interview.

The earth-loving Insurgent star chatted about her daily diet with the Late Show host David Letterman on Monday and admitted she was a big fan of the nutrient-rich broth, which is becoming increasingly popular across the country.

She explained, “I’ve been into bone broth for a long time… What I think is beautiful about it is that you’re using the whole animal. You’re not just seeking out that perfect cut of muscle meat.

“(With) bone broth, I notice a big difference. It’s known to be helpful with leaky gut or irritable bowel syndrome.”

Letterman was intrigued by Woodley’s love of bone broth and admitted he was looking for “something that will be chemically beneficial and tasty” to boost his health after undergoing heart surgery in 2000, prompting the actress to reply, “Well, I find bone broth to be both of those things.”

After the show’s taping, Woodley took to the Letterman Instagram page to share her “morning drink” recipe with interested viewers, revealing she blends together “grass fed beef bone broth” with ingredients including coconut oil, ginger tea and turmeric.

The 23-year-old previously told Letterman she had added clay to her diet after reading about the health benefits, revealing she makes her own toothpaste from it so she can get her daily dose.

She also studies herbalism and practices a concept called “re-wilding”, which helps her connect to the plants around her and understand their benefits.
