‘Beauty and the Beast’ Casts Tony Award-Winner Audra McDonald as the Wardrobe

Audra McDonald has joined the cast of Disney’s upcoming live-action version of Beauty and the Beast.

An exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Broadway and TV star has been cast as Garderobe, the French word for wardrobe, in the film. If you remember Disney’s animated version, this means that we could see her character perform a “Be Our Guest”-type number. We definitely have our fingers crossed for that one because we know Disney isn’t crazy enough to get rid of that unforgettable scene.

The six-time Tony-winner won awards for her work in Porgy and Bess ,Lady Day in Emerson’s Bar and Grill, Raisin in the Sun, Ragtime, Carousel and more. If Emma Watson was nervous about singing in the film before, we can only wonder how she’s feeling now with this powerhouse added to the cast!

Beauty and the Beast also stars Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as LeFou, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, and Kevin Kline as Maurice.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters March 17, 2017.
