Angelina Jolie’s ‘Skins’ Script Eerily Similar to Her Own Life

Angelina Jolie wrote a script titled Skins when she was 24, just eight years before her mother, Marcheline, passed away following a battle with ovarian cancer. The plot of the film is now a bit eerie considering how Jolie’s future has unfolded. The story focuses on a girl who chose to undergo a double mastectomy as her mother was dying of breast cancer.

Jolie took preventative measures in 2013 to reduce her cancer risk by undergoing a double mastectomy, and earlier this month, she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed after a doctor detected a possible early sign of the disease.

A source tells British newspaper the Sunday Mirror, “(Skins) was a harrowing read, it was really, really sad. It is so similar to Angelina’s own story, although when she wrote it she would have had absolutely no idea. It was even before she knew her mother Marcheline was ill and several years before she died. It’s like she based the character on herself… only she couldn’t possibly have done.”

The details of the script were revealed in a biography by Andrew Morton.
