Joni Mitchell Found Unconscious and Hospitalized

Folk music legend Joni Mitchell was found unconscious in her home in Los Angeles today and has been hospitalized.

The Both Sides Now singer, 71, was reportedly responsive as paramedics transported her to a local medical centre.

Sources tell TMZ.com the singer/songwriter is in the intensive care unit, and her condition “appears to be quite serious.”

While the cause of the health scare has yet to be revealed, Mitchell opened up about her rare skin condition called Morgellons, earlier this year.

The condition, which some top medics believe is a mental illness linked to “false beliefs about infestations by parasites”, forced her to scrap a rare performance at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, insisting she was confined to her house and couldn’t wear clothes.

Mitchell told New York Magazine that “fibres in a variety of colours protrude out of my skin like mushrooms after a rainstorm… They cannot be forensically identified as animal, vegetable or mineral.”

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
