MTV Announces ‘Awkward’ Final Season Premiere Date

We’re getting closer and closer to the end of an Awkward era.

MTV announced that hit series Awkward‘s fifth and final season premiere is Monday, August 31. Hopefully this means that we’ll get some resolution to the never ending not-very-merry-go-round relationship that is Jenny and Matty.

When we return to the series, there are only a few weeks left of high school, and Jenna and her friends are doing what they can to make the most of it. Everyone’s already figured out what they’re going to do next year, and there’s the sense that anything can happen. According to MTV, this season builds to big senior year milestones like senior pranks, prom and graduation where Jenna will have to decide once and for all: are she and Matty meant to be? (*whispering loudly* YEESSSSS)

The show’s EPs Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler revealed to TVLine that this season Jenna will be “confronted by all of the guys that she’s been with. It’s a confrontation — or, actually, more like an intervention.” We wouldn’t want to be her in that situation, but you can bet we’ll be watching.
