Stanley Tucci Joins ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Stanley Tucci will be joining Emma Watson onscreen in the Beauty and the Beast live-action film adaptation.

According to Variety, Tucci has been cast as a character that isn’t seen in the animated version, Cadenza the grand piano. Cadenza is described as “a neurotic maestro. Given his colorful performance as Cesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games franchise, and the fact that he’s a phenomenal actor anyway, we have no doubt that Tucci will bring his A game to the film.

Before Stanley, Ewan McGregor was the most recent cast member to be announced, joining the cast as Lumiere, a maitre d’ at the Beast’s castle who was turned into a candelabra thanks to the witch’s curse.

In addition to Tucci, Watson and McGregor, the film stars Luke Evans as Gaston, Dan Stevens as the Beast, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Kevin Kline as Maurice , Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts and Tony Award winner Audra McDonald as Garderob. Bill Condon is directing.

Other Disney live action adaptations that are headed down the pipeline include Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Pinocchio, and Mulan.

Beauty and the Beast is scheduled to hit theaters March 17, 2017.
