Fuller House‘s star Candace Cameron Bure recently told Today that the series is actually not a reunion. “We’re definitely doing Fuller House… It revolves around my character, D.J., who now has three kids but is widowed,” the actress explained to Today‘s Tamron Hall. “She asks her best friend and [her sister] Stephanie to come help her raise her kids.”

“It’s definitely a fresh take,” she continued. “We’re not doing the old show, it’s not a reunion. It’s a spin-off show.”

Fuller House will follow oldest Tanner sister DJ, now a recent widow and mother of 2 with one on the way. She opens her home to her sister Stephanie , bff Kimmy Gibbler and her teenage daughter and the three will try and navigate life similar to the way it was done for them. The show is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2016.
