‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Sasha Pieterse Talks Time Jump, Charles and More

The sixth season of Pretty Little Liars premieres tomorrow night, with the girls still trapped in Charles’ twisted dollhouse. Show star Sasha Pierterse, aka Alison DiLaurentis, took some time to talk to reporters about what to expect from the latest “eerie and dark” season, including who Charles is definitely related to, what fans can expect after the time jump and more juicy little tidbits.

We immediately asked Sasha about that confirmed time jump and where fans will find Alison after the event and although she couldn’t give us many details, she dished what she could. “…I’m really excited about it. I think all of us are really excited about it,” said Sasha. “It’s something new and different that the fans haven’t seen before. It’s an interesting twist because so many different weird things happened to the girls at this time in their lives in high school and now this is something totally different. They’re grown up and their life has moved different directions and I think the fans are going to really enjoy seeing that.”

Before we get to that time jump, however, we’ll follow the girls as they try to figure out the mystery behind Charles…who is he, what’s his big plan and why is he so obsessed with Ali and the girls? Sasha did give fans a great spoiler relating to Charles, confirming certain suspicions raised in the season five finale. “I can tell you that Charles is somehow related to the DiLaurentis family, which is a huge spoiler [laughs],” she revealed. “Charles is obsessed with the girls and obsessed with everything that he has created in his mind. So, to have the real Alison is his obsession and his dream…Everything is going to fall into place, makes sense and we’ll find out how this has all come about as well as the history of Charles and the reason he is so obsessed.”

Another interesting little piece of info about Charles that Sasha told us? Although he’s related to the DiLaurentis family, the Queen Bee has NO idea who he is! “She has no clue who this person is… It’s completely a shock to her. And so, that also brings up if Charles is somehow related to the DiLaurentis family how come no one knew about him and that unravels a whole other different but cool storyline actually because as much as everyone knows what’s happened and the girls are trying to figure it out, they’re also following their own storyline and their own demons.”

Finding out more about the DiLaurentis’ and their walk-in closet full of skeletons should definitely be an interesting journey, we just hope Alison has learned her lesson about lying and secrecy for good (although I think we all know Ali a little better than that).

Fans of the series are very serious about their ‘ships and as they know, a flame between Alison and Emily was lit, then snuffed out last season. Unfortunatley, it doesn’t seem like there’s much hope of them re-igniting that fire this season, at least not right away. “I know everyone is so for Emison and I totally understand because of how many great scenes Emily and Alison have had. But, it’s also important for at least the teenage girls watching our show to recognize that not everything stays connected; not everything always comes together. This is a high school relationship and they deeply care about each other.

“Some of [the fans] might not like it, but some of them will. I think it’s a really important change and you’ll see some of that go through the time jump as well. But, they definitely do care about each other and I think their feelings are genuine either way it goes.”
