‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Is Already In Development

Following the success of Pitch Perfect 2, Universal and Gold Circle are reportedly already beginning to develop a third installment in the franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news today that the studios have already begun negotiations with the writer of the first 2 films, Kay Cannon, in hopes of having her return to write the next one. There’s no word, however, on which stars will return to the franchise, including producer/director Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson.

Kendrick and Wilson were paid $2 million each to appear in the second film, so getting them to return for a third will undoubtedly be expensive, not to mention figuring out how both of their characters, who graduated in the 2nd film, will return to the Bellas for a third. Also according to the site, “Universal and Gold Circle were smelling a franchise when they made sure to lock in series newcomer Hailee Steinfeld for a follow-up.”

So far, Pitch Perfect 2 has taken in over $160.9 million in domestic box office, which makes it no surprise that the studio is already getting the ball rolling on a third installment.
