Tom Hanks In Talks to Star in Clint Eastwood’s Captain Sully Biopic

Tom Hanks is currently in the lead to play the role of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming biopic about the heroic captain.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Warner Bros. is currently in negotiation with Hanks to take on the lead role in the biopic about the life of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the man who saved the lives of everyone aboard his plane in 2009 after he was forced to land his disabled jet on the Hudson River.

Eastwood signed onto the project earlier this month with Captain Sully himself saying, “I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall. The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team.”

Eastwood previous hero flick, American Sniper, grossed $543.4M worldwide, so it’s no wonder he was chosen to helm Captain Sully’s tale, but many thought the director would also star in the film.

What are your thoughts on Hanks stepping into the role of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger? Is there anyone else you’d like to see cast? Let us know in the comments below!
