Bruce Campbell is back and looking badass as ever in the first photo from the Ash vs Evil Dead Starz series.

When the series premieres, we’ll catch up with Ash (Bruce Campbell), who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its grips.

In the photo we see a bloody Ash, flanked by his two new sidekicks Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo):

Campbell previously revealed that fans can expect to return to a “crabby middle-aged” Ash. “He continues being a trash-talking know-it-all who doesn’t really know anything. He’s the ultimate anti-hero. He’s a guy with no appreciable skills. He’s not a former Navy SEAL, he’s not a former CIA or FBI. He’s no special anything. He’s just a guy from S-Mart, you know? And think that’s part of what people relate too. All these superhero movies—I rather relate to a garage mechanic who gets into a sticky situation. That’s what I look forward to playing—a guy with horrible flaws.”

In addition to Campbell, the series cast includes: Lucy Lawless as Ruby, a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks; Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner; Mimi Rogers as Suzy Maxwell, a woman who is reunited with her family and several uninvited guests after a freak accident;Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick and Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past.
