‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ Finds Its Queenie

Musician Alison Sudol may be best known by her musical moniker A Fine Frenzy, but thanks to her new role in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, she’ll soon be known as another name.

Sudol has landed the role of Queenie in the upcoming film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter spin-off. Queenie is the sister Tina, who’ll be portrayed by Inherent Vice star Katherine Westerston.

Although a spin-off from the hugely popular Harry Potter series, the events of Fantastic Beasts actually take place about seven decades before Potter’s story even begins. The story follows the adventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander and is based on the Hogwarts textbook he eventually ends up writing, detailing said adventures. Westerson’s Porpentina and Sudol’s Queenie meet Scamander when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures, according to Warner Bros.

It was originally was rumored that in addition to Sudol, Dakota Fanning, Saoirse Ronan and Lili Simmons were rumored to be up for the role of Tina, but we now know it was in fact Queenie.

David Yates, who helmed the final four Harry Potter movies, is set to direct Fantastic Beasts, which begins production in London this summer.

The first Fantastic Beasts film is scheduled to debut November 18, 2016.

We’d love to hear what you think of Sudol’s casting in the comments below!
