Wilson Slams Monkeys

OWEN WILSON has slammed his THE DARJEELING LIMITED monkey co-stars in his first interview since an August (07) suicide attempt.

The actor was interviewed by pal and longtime collaborator Wes Anderson – who directed The Darjeeling Limited – for the MySpace Artist On Artist series, with the chat posted on the social networking site on Friday (26Oct07) at midnight.

He told Anderson, “At first you think. gosh, monkeys, that’s so kind of incredible… But they didn’t have your best interests at heart. They weren’t these adorable little creatures. They want to replace you.”

And Wilson admits his experiences on the movie have made it his favorite work so far – as he holds the films themes and subject matter close to his heart.

He explains, “I would say it’s (The Darjeeling Limited) maybe, maybe my favorite. My character says, ‘I want us to become brothers again like we used to be.’ I really like that line and it means a lot to me.”

Wilson and Anderson have worked together on multiple projects, including Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums, which they co-wrote, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
