Ian McShane Joins the Cast of ‘Game of Thrones’

Ian McShane is taking his talents to the sixth season of Game of Thrones.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news, reporting that McShane is set to appear in the series in a mysterious role that “is of key importance.” No further details are being given about the role, which only adds to the overall mystery surrounding the upcoming season.

McShane is best known for playing some pretty bad dudes throughout his career, so it’d be a fair assumption that he’ll be doing what he does best and causing trouble when the show returns. That’s just our guess though.

During the recent Television Critics Association’s summer press tour it was announced that HBO execs are thinking GoT will stick around for at least 2 more seasons.

“Seven-seasons-and-out has never been the conversation,” said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. “The question is how much beyond seven are we going to do.”

He also stated that the series’ showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, are “feeling like there’s two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds. That’s what we’re looking at right now.”

What role do you think McShane will be taking on in the new season? We’d love to hear your theories in the comments below!
