Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale Are Getting a Divorce

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale surprised their fans by announcing they’ve decided to end their almost 13 year marriage.

The two, who met and began dating back in 1996 and were married 6 years later in September 2002, have decided to end their marriage, with Stefani taking the first step and filing for divorce yesterday.

“While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” the couple said in a joint statement. “To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time.”

The pair’s marriage had been rumored to be on the rocks for some time, with allegations of Rossdale’s infidelity usually being the topic.

According to EW, the reason cited in court documents being “irreconcilable differences.” The site also learned that “she and Rossdale, via his response, both seek joint custody of their children. Rossdale’s response was filed at the same time as Stefani’s initial document.”

The couple has 3 young sons together: Kingston, 9; Zuma, 6; and Apollo, 1.
