‘Game of Thrones’ Casts Max von Sydow as Three-Eyed Raven

Game of Thrones is pulling out all the casting stops for its mysterious sixth season, casting Max von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven.

It’s no secret that we’ll be catching back up with Bran Stark and co. when the show returns, but now we know who will be playing the mysterious Three-Eyed Raven.

We haven’t seen Bran or the Three-Eyed Raven (then played by Struan Rodger) since the end of season 4, when the young Stark and his companions met him. We know the Raven will be helping Bran develop and on his newly discovered Warg powers when we return.

There are theories that when we return there will be a short time-jump in Bran’s storyline (which makes sense seeing how Isaac Hempstead-Wright, the actor that plays Bran, will basically be a man when he reappears) and will have already had plenty of time to learn from the Three-Eyed Raven.

The news of von Sydow’s casting comes just after the announcement that Ian McShane took on a mystery role in the hit HBO series.
