The Drama-Filled ‘Empire’ Season Two Trailer Is Here!

Empire returns this fall and the Lyons’ drama is only getting more intense during the show’s second season.

The family looks completely divided in the first full trailer for season two. Jamal’s threatening to “bury” Hakeem’s album, Cookie gets a door slammed in her face, Hakeem is more arrogant and driven than ever and, on top of everything else, Lucious is still locked up and pulling strings from behind the scenes.

Co-creator Danny Strong previously promised that the drama would be taken up a notch when the show returns saying, “Season 1 was who will inherit the throne. Season 2 is warring kingdoms.”

More recently, Lee Daniels spoke of the possibility of a Cookie-centric spinoff. “There is going to be a spinoff from Empire, without question,” he said during the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “There’s so much ripe story that we’ve talked about already— about Cookie’s family, what makes her her. That in itself is fascinating to me.”

“Here Cookie is now, but how did she get to where she’s at right now?” Daniels said. “Let’s go back and understand her mother, her sisters…. Let’s understand the makings of her… It’d be like a prequel.”

While we keep our fingers crossed for that, let’s take a look at the type of damage current Cookie will be causing (or trying to fix) in the upcoming season of Empire:
