‘Empire’ Releases New Season 2 Promo and Music

Cookie and Lucious torture one another in Empire‘s new promo, while series stars Jussie Smollett and Yazz drop two hot new singles from the upcoming season.

Lucious may be locked up, but that’s not stopping he and Cookie from getting under each other’s skin. The pair are seen talking to one another during one of Lucious’ prison visits and it’s clear that they still harbor lots of complicated feelings for one another, with Lucious admitting, “It’s crazy how I can love you and hate you at the same moment.” Cookie, on the other hand, just calls it “torture.”

The new promo backs up the theme that series co-creator Danny Strong previously hinted at saying, “Season 1 was who will inherit the throne. Season 2 is warring kingdoms.”

Take a look at the new season 2 video and the 2 new songs from Empire below:

Fans can also look forward to a lot more attitude headed to the new season because Serayah, Gabourey Sidibe and Ta’Rhonda Jones, who play pop star and Hakeem’s ex Tiana and Empire Records rulers Lucious and Cookie Lyons’ respective assistants Becky and Porsha, all received series regular promotions heading into the new season.

The show’s second season has some impressive new talent lined up as well, including Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Adam Rodriguez, Ne-Yo, Kelly Rowland, Becky G and Ludacris.
