‘Preacher’ Receives Series Order from AMC

AMC has officially ordered the series Preacher, based on the comic books, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg executive producing and writing the script for the pilot.

Seth Rogen excitedly announced via Twitter that the pilot was picked up for a series order and will be heading to AMC in 2016.

According to AMC, Preacher is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s twisted ‘90s comic book series and follows about Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God.

Interestingly enough, HBO passed on the project in 2008, deeming it “too dark and too violent and too controversial,” but we all know that’s right up AMC’s ally nowadays.

AMC previously ordered a pilot to be produced for series consideration earlier this year, a plan that has clearly panned out for the best.

Look out for Preacher to head to AMC next year.
