George R.R. Martin to Guest Star in Syfy’s ‘Z Nation’

Syfy’s Z Nation will welcome a zombie of ice and fire during its second season.

The best-selling author, who penned the A Song of Ice and Fire series that inspired the hit HBO show Game of Thrones, will appear in an upcoming episode of the Syfy series as the zombie version of himself.

“I just want to prove to my fans that even in the Zombie Apocalypse, the Song of Ice and Fire books will still come out!” said Martin of his appearance in a statement.

Martin will appear in the 8th episode of the series as a zombie who “has been imprisoned by a character called the Collector, who captures celebrity zombies and keeps George chained to a desk for his own nefarious purposes,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

In case you still haven’t checked out the series, here’s a quick synopsis thanks to Syfy:

In Z Nation, three years have passed since the zombie virus has gutted the country, and a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood. Although the antibodies he carries are the world’s last, best hope for a vaccine, he hides a dark secret that threatens them all. With humankind’s survival at stake, the ragtag band embarks on a journey of survival across three thousand miles of rusted-out post-apocalyptic America.
