Oscar favorites NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and THERE WILL BE BLOOD continued their awards glory at the weekend (16Feb08) by taking home top gongs at the Art Directors Guild’s Production Design Awards.

The ceremony, which took place on Saturday night at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton Hotel, honored Jess Gonchor with the Art Directors Guild’s excellence in production design award in the contemporary film category for the Joel and Ethan Coen-directed No Country For Old Men.

Jack Fisk won the same award in the period-film category for Paul Thomas Anderson’s oil epic There Will Be Blood, while Dennis Gassner was praised for his work on The Golden Compass in the fantasy genre.

Meanwhile, critically-acclaimed production designer Stuart Craig, best known for his work on the Harry Potter movie franchise, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and technical expert Ray Harryhausen picked up the prize for Outstanding Contribution To Cinematic Imagery.
