Syfy’s ‘The Magicians’ Trailer Makes Us Wish We Were In Magic College

Syfy debuted the trailer for its upcoming fantasy series The Magicians at NYCC over the weekend, teaching fans that good magicians are both sassy and attractive and making us wish we could go enroll there immediately.

The one-hour drama, based upon Lev Grossman’s best-selling books, will star Jason Ralph (A Most Violent Year, Aquarius) as Quentin Coldwater, a brilliant grad student who enrolls in Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic. He and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real – and poses grave danger to humanity. Stella Maeve (Chicago P.D.), Hale Appleman (Teeth), Arjun Gupta (Nurse Jackie) and Summer Bishil (Towelhead, Lucky 7) also star in the series.

In the new trailer we get a look at our protagonist as he discovers Brakebills and follow him as he gets acclamated to his new magical environment.

Anyone else getting a “if Hogwarts were a college” feel?

A full season of The Magicians was ordered back in May after a successful pilot reception. The show’s pilot script was written by John McNamara (Prime Suspect) and Sera Gamble (Supernatural).

The Magicians heads to Syfy in January 2016.
