‘Sherlock’ Headed to Theaters in 2016

Sherlock fans will able to see Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) on the big screen for a short time in 2016.

PBS Masterpiece announced today that the feature-length screening of the Victorian-era special, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, will premiere on Tuesday, January 5 and Wednesday, January 6, 2016 both at 7:30 p.m. local time.

During the screening, audiences will experience 20 minutes of exclusive, additional footage including a set tour of 221B Baker Street hosted by co-writer/executive producer Steven Moffat – prior to the feature, and a “making of” short film starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and many more immediately following the special.

Before its big screen debut, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride will premiere on Masterpiece on PBS stations the same day as the UK on Friday, January 1 at 9pm ET, and simultaneously online at pbs.org/masterpiece. This marks the first time that Sherlock has premiered in the US and the UK on the same day.
