Meet Jesse Custer in AMC’s First ‘Preacher’ Trailer

Preacher

The world premiere trailer for Preacher, AMC’s new series from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, debuted last night and we learned one thing: if this clergyman comes for you, you’d better start praying.

The series is based on the cult comic series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and stars Dominic Cooper (whom fans may recognize as Howard Stark from the Marvel Cinematic Universe) as Jesse Custer, aka the titular Preacher. The first look at the series premiered during last night’s episode of The Walking Dead.

In the trailer, we see a boy asking the preacher to hurt his dad (who is shown abusing his mother). “You know it’s a sin just to ask me that?” replies Custer. The boy, however, doesn’t care. From there, the preacher breaks down in detail what hurting his father would entail, and we see clips of what the seemingly calm man is really capable of.

Take a look at the video, and a description of the series per AMC, below!

According to AMC, Preacher is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s twisted ‘90s comic book series and follows about Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun, This Is England) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.

Look out for Preacher to head to AMC mid-2016.

As always, we’d love to hear what you think in the comments below!
