James Gunn Wants You to Stop Asking Him to Cast You in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn would like fans to stop asking him to cast them in his film, but for good reason: That’s not his job!

“I know so many of you want to audition for or be background aliens in Vol. 2. I know because I get hundreds of messages about this a day,” the director wrote on his Facebook page today. “So I’m answering you, now, all at once: That is not what a director does. I do not schedule auditions and I do not cast and find extras. There are people who do do that and, with a little bit of detective work, you can probably find out who. But it’s not me. I only see background faces and audition tapes at the end of the line, after the extras casting director and casting director have sorted out all the best possible options, and I choose from there.”
