Critics Say Leonardo DiCaprio Leads Oscars Best Actor Race

The Revenant - Leonardo DiCaprio

It might finally be Leonardo DiCaprio’s year to win Best Actor at the Oscars. His role in the upcoming film The Revenant has put an end to the buzz that Michael Fassbender is the frontrunner for award season with his portrayal of Steve Jobs in Steve Jobs. While Fassbender’s performance was incredible in the biopic, the film flopped in America.

In The Revenant, DiCaprio plays a frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who has set out for revenge against those who left him for death after he was mauled by a bear.

The 41-year old actor recently commented on his work in the film at a screening last week in New York City. He called The Revenant “the most difficult film, I think, that any of us have ever done.”

Could Leonardo DiCaprio Win the 2016 Oscar for Best Actor?

While Fassbender may not be the frontrunner anymore (The awards odds site, GoldDerby.com, did have Fassender in the lead as critics top pick, however, now DiCaprio has the support of 11 of the 22 film experts at the site), we’re willing to bet that Fassbender, Matt Damon (The Martian), Johnny Depp (Black Mass), and Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl) will be DiCaprio’s competition this year. Based on that competition, do you think this could be DiCaprio’s year? Will his fifth time being nominated be the charm? Let us know your thoughts in our comment section below!
