2009 Oscar Nominees Announced!

Nominations are in! This morning Forest Whitaker and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis announced the nominees. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button came in with the most honors, 13 nominations in total. Following closely was Slumdog Millionaire with 10 nominations.

The Golden Globes usually provide a pretty good insight into how the Oscar nominations will go, but it didn’t work that way this year for Revolutionary Road which was nominated for Best Picture at the Globes. It did not pick up a nod for the same category here nor did Kate Winslet or Leonardo DiCaprio pick up nods for their work in the film. Kate Winlset did pick up a Best Actress nomination for her work in The Reader, the same role she won Best Supporting Actress for at the Globes.

  1. I am pumped about Ledger getting nominated, but I honestly thought that The Dark Knight should be nominated for best creenplay. It was really well written.
