The First ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ Trailer Has Been Released

The aliens are back! And with them comes the first Independence Day: Resurgence trailer! Sadly however, Will Smith is no where to be seen.

While Will Smith didn’t return for the sequel, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, and Judd Hirsch have all returned and join a few new faces including Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward.

Independence Day: Resurgence, directed by Roland Emmerich, takes place two decades after the original invasion (which wow’ed theaters in 1996). Since then the planet has recovered the alien technology in order to be able to attempt to protect itself against future threats. Now, in present day 2016, the future threat have arrived. This next chapter brings an unprecedented force from the aliens’ advance. And of course, our favorites from the original with the addition of a Hemsworth brother, are our planet’s only hope to return from the brink of extinction.
